a dance class,
we are a community.
WHY FORMATION STUDIOS?
At Formation Studios we are not just about quality dance training.
we are about community, accessibility, and inclusivity.
We have created a safe environment for our community of dancers
to move freely and explore dance without judgement.
We provide a class format that is nurturing to all dancers.
We provide education on the foundational technique of
each style of dance and give our students the tools to grow
in their journey of dance.
Our goal is to have students leave the studio feeling
equally challenged and empowered after every class.
Whether you are just starting your dance journey or if you're continuing on your path,
we would love to have you join our Formation Family.
LEAUX ELSTAD: DANCE INSTRUCTOR & MENTOR
STREET JAZZ, HEELS, CONTEMPORARY, & TECHNIQUE
Leaux has been a part of the dance community in Portland since 2011, formally training in Los Angeles from age 4-18. Starting as a student, she worked her way up to becoming a professional performer, choreographer, and instructor, training under the instruction of Mandy Moore, Durante Lambert, and Yanis Marshall.
She has had the opportunity to perform for major local events like The Portland Erotic Ball, The Portland Art Museum, The Brian Grant Foundation, and many other organizations, both local and international.
Leaux has also had the opportunity to travel as a choreographer/dancer with Glass Candy for various performances and tours.
In addition to performing at events, Leaux has directed/choreographed many of her own full-length productions.
She was the Artistic Director/Choreographer for her dance company, The Soul, for 4 seasons.
The Soul was a dance company with women of different ages, sizes, and styles. They celebrated inclusivity for up and coming dancers that wanted to feel empowered and inspired by one another.
Now Leaux enjoys teaching her students and getting to watch them grow and expand in ways they never would have imagined before. She enjoys organizing seasonal performance showcases for her students so that they can show their loved ones what they have learned. Bringing community to the dance floor has alway been the goal.
Having a career in dance is a dream come true for Leaux and she continues to be humbled by
her students' support.
